A Grey Feather Toys order

Yes another order, although this one wasn't very big being comprised of only three items!

However, the main item was a custom made item. I kept reading about these great tight woven cotton perches over at Coco's blog and I figured why not get one for Léa. I wanted this perch be the "main" perch, to go from one side to the other of the cage so it had to be pretty long. As well, I wanted something solid and given these perches were made using a core stainless steel wire. It was shipped in a long box, the perch not bent on itself. I did try to bend it a bit for the purpose of picture taking, but it was a rather hard feat to accomplish. Nonetheless, I've very happy with how it came out!



I also got Léa a Super Megaphone. I had intended to do so in an earlier order but ended up ordering the regular size, which was perfect as I also debated getting one for Joey and that way Joey got his. The Super is definitively larger than the regular size and I also got the two o rings welded shut (for a little extra cost). It's quite shiny and I'm curious how Miss Léa will like this one.



Finally, I got Piper a little something as well. Although he's not too big with playing with toys, he does like the shred straw-like material and he does enjoy beating a toy up and if there are beads/rings to move about then it's just fun! This one toy seemed to have it all - I believed it's called the Stir Crazy.



With the addition of the rope perch, Léa's cage is pretty much "complete". I do have to rearrange things in it though, as I've crowded it with too many toys at this point and I will want to take some out and move the others around to be sure that there will be plenty of room to move around. As well, given she might still be a bit clumsy when she'll arrive, I'll want to have a few more perches in there to help her move around, more than I probably would typically have in there, so the next step will be to find a configuration of toys/perches that will make me happy!

Grey Feather Toys order

Back in April GFT had a sale.

I received it earlier this month but failed to post about it.

It wasn't a big order, got a few toys and some stainless steel 2" washers to help attach things to the cage of the future Cape parrot as the bar spacing is slightly wider than the one for the cages of my smaller Pois.

Well the main reason I ordered was for the Megaphone. Did it so hurriedly that I didn't notice there were two sizes. Meant to get the bigger one for future Cape but ended up getting the smaller one. Mind you, that in itself isn't a bad thing since I figured Joey would probably also enjoy such a toy and it's now in his cage.



I also though that Piper might enjoy a toy to bang around and the Tweedle caught my eye so I added one to my cart.



It looked so cute and there was one available in a larger size (Tweedle medium), I put one in my cart and it's now in Petey's cage (he does like toys to bang around as well).



Finally, I also got a cage invader because I also thought it looked neat and it now resides in Pixel's cage.

Secret Santa gifts!

I have participated at this year's Secret Santa gift exchange on Avian Avenue. Last year I did not and it seemed like much fun so I figured why not try it?

I received my package today. And I opened it - yeah Christmas is still far away, but if I wait for Christmas to give the birds the toys, where's the harm? In any case, most people who have received their packages have opened them as well (and some of these were in November).

Everything I got fit in a shoe box. No I didn't take a picture of the box as we all know what a shoe box looks like...

The contents, however, were fantastic - I am so happy and I'm sure I'll have some very happy birdies!







The gifts came from Oliver's Garden - the boing is a dead giveaway and I also checked the information provided by Canada Post online about my mail stub - it indicated the package originated in Chester, Nova Scotia, exactly where Oliver's Garden is located.

The toys are great, love the fact that I got a yellow boing and that block with multiple "leaves" is quite fantastic (so is everything else). I'll have a hard time deciding who gets what!

Recent Grey Feather Toys Order

Recently I was made aware that Grey Feather Toys had a temporary deal on one of the parrot forums I participate on that any order made within certain dates would have free shipping within the States. Now being in Canada, I figured I would ask the store's owner if a similar deal (I was not expecting free shipping) could be in place for Canadian members of the forum.

The owner, Rebecca, was very nice to talk to and in the end, the "deal" for Canadians was a flat shipping rate of $9.95, which is pretty awesome.

I went a bit crazy and ordered a few toys to be hung in cages but I mostly purchased foot toys as they were the true success item from my first order with Grey Feather Toys.

My first Grey Feather Toy order

For the longest time, I've held out of ordering toys from online bird stores located in the US because I was always weary of shipping and the possible duty/brokerage fees.
However, after seeing how many people were pleased with toys they were getting at Grey Feather Toys and how amazing the toys looked, I finally decided to take the plunge earlier this month.

The toys got here last Monday.

Yesterday, I put the toys on the sofa so that multiple birds could try them out at once and I have to say, based on what I've seen so far, the toys are a success. Here are a few pictures.

The freebie also won over Shade, who was more terrified of everything than Piper Monday night. She eventually played with it. She wouldn't come near it if I offered it, but after it was put in a bowl on the tree for long enough she decided it was no longer threatening. It took her about two minutes that way to go down, get it and bring it back up with her.
