*Yawn*

It could be one of two birds - Pixel or Shade. The former was the first to do so repetitively on camera, but soon enough I had two birds doing it. Recently though, I could only capture the one doing so.

And who is it?

Shade.

Happy Hatchday Shade!

The lovely Shade turns 10 today. (Yes, another bird reaches two digits.)

Happy Hatchday Shade!

Maybe if I look interested in something down there....

...she'll look down too and put he camera away?

I really wouldn't be surprised if that thought went through her head at some point, but she does look genuinely interested in something, although I doubt there was anything of note on the ground at the time.

Triangle

I think this is one of her favourite spots on the atom - the smaller triangle formed by some of the "branches".

Throwback Thursday

I was going through pictures this morning, thinking of what I could use for throwback Thursday, and found this one of Shade, which is fairly recent (less than two years old) and gave me an idea for the next few TBT shots - favourite past pictures of the birds with their wings up.

This one was taken in April 2014.

Mutual preening

It's been a while since I last posted pictures of a preening session between Shade and Zuri, in which Shade more often gets preened and poor Zuri gets little of the same attention in return. As you'll see below, Zuri starts preening Shade, does it for some time before he stops and presents his head for some preening. Shade will normally resist a little, give in for a few seconds and then lower her head for more, and Zuri will typically start preening her again.

Shade

She looks somewhat surprised.

*Yawn*

While Pixel won't yawn for the camera lately, it appears that Shade has no problem doing so.

Reach

I believe she was trying to get to that lonely green wooden piece on the swing.

Wet birds

More than half of the birds decided to take baths on Saturday, under their own free will and in their water bowls. The result was birds with varying degrees of being wet. (Note: the pictures were taken with my cell phone, so quality isn't the greatest.)

1-Léa

Léa's baths are a messy affair; while she ever only manages to get her head wet (and even this isn't truly drenched), it is an entirely different story for her cage and the floor around her cage...those two things get soaked.

2-Joey

He's always been pretty good at getting wet. If I mist him, his whole body gets wet easily. But when it is as a result of him taking a bath, he pretty much only gets his belly.

3-Shade

I have a feeling she may have gotten the ball rolling for taking a bath that day. Her face and belly were pretty wet, and it looked like the top of her head had been more wet at one point, but was drying off.

4-Pixel

She was the one who remained the most wet. The feathers on her belly were properly drenched and so was the top of her head (which doesn't really show in this picture).

Step up?

Shade and Léa, showing that they are ready to step up.
