A conversation (yesterday evening)

(The birds were still in their cages, I was in the adjacent room and the Boy was in the hallway...)

Petey: "Hi Petey!"
Léa: "Hi Petey!"
Me: "Hi Petey"

(Now this went on for quite a few minutes, on "repeat", then...)

Petey: "Hi Petey!"
Léa: "Hi Léa!"
Me: "Hi Petey!"

The Boy: "I think that time she said "Hi Léa".
Me: "Oh well...Hi Léa!"

Léa: "Hi Léa!"
Me: "Hi Léa!"
The Boy: "Oh is that what she said there? It sounded like Léo..."

More yawning!

They say yawning is contagious...

As I was processing these pictures, Joey, who was on the computer desk somewhere in front of the screen, ended up looking at the pictures and started to yawn..a lot! He wasn't doing anything before looking at the pictures!

Outdoors time!

This evening was lovely outside, with a blue sky and temperature that was just right, we decided to take the birds outside to get some beneficial sun exposure.

Sadly, no picture up close of Piper, as I was unable to get something decent. I'm also considering purchasing another medium Kings Cage travel cage so that Piper will get more space (either in that cage or taking over one of the ones which contained a Red-bellied parrot and that parrot would go in the Kings Cage).

Also, no picture of Nemo as he returned to my parents today.

Happy "Gotcha day" Petey!

On August 3rd, 2008, Petey joined the flock, so today we are celebrating having him as part of the family for 5 years now.



He's been relatively good this year, although I don't really count the amount of attempted attacks (on me) in a year, these past few months seem to have been free of them.

This has also probably been one of the longest time he's stuck with one family, the year we got him, he was going back and forth between families and a rescue. I guess stability has done him some good.

As well, since I don't know his exact hatch date, we'll celebrate him turning 18 years old (band states a 1995 hatch day I believe) today!

Happy "gotcha day" and happy hatchday Petey!

Things that make your heart melt

This past week has been a little difficult on the personal side, for reasons I won't get into, and it's left me quite tired.

Yesterday morning, Léa did something that warmed my heard and brought a smile to my face. She was holding onto her cage bars (we were about to leave for work) and she let me pet her toes, something she hasn't been keen on of late). As I was doing this, she lowered her head towards mine (as she was on a perch that was a little higher) and said "hello" in a very soft voice. It was adorable!
