Happy Hatchday Piper!
Piper turns 9 today!
I have to say, I'm not coping so well with the fact that his age is so close to being in the double digits.
Also, he's one of the few parrots here that I got as a baby and it's hard to believe that I've lived with parrots for that long.
I revisited what I said that last year, and I'll say one thing again - although he is getting older, he still has the energy of a young bird. Nothing stops him.
Happy hatchday Piper!

64:365 - Pop!
Her eye and yellow/orange belly really pop out on this picture I find. I insisted on using natural light when I took the pictures for this week, even though it was a little uneven.

63:365 - Petey
Since the beginning of this project, he's often been "first"; we use a number generator to pick the order in which the birds get their picture posted every week. This might have been the first time that he was last.
This was a funny photo shoot; yes, I posted a very dignified and typical Petey picture (because I like it). But every third picture, when he thought I was done I guess, there is a picture of him reaching for some of the chewable parts of the adjacent swing. I will have to post some of those pictures as well, because he doesn't typically play with things!

I really like this picture, I find the colours and lighting spot on. His yellow cap is not blown out, as it can happen at times.

It's once again time for another "gotcha day" post!
Six years ago we brought Joey home. Ironically, it was a similar day weather wise, with snow coming down and not at all looking like Spring was anywhere close to showing up.
Six years of his silly antics, although earlier this morning I found myself unable to properly think and, count and for some reason, I thought it was nine years and wondered how that could be! But then realized he hatched in 2005, not that we got him that year...but sadly, that also means he'll be nine this year (nearly into double digits!)
He's got a lot of head scrtiches this morning, which seemed to make him very happy, and now I should go through the bins of toys to find something to give him - and given he's not very picky as far as toys are concerned, it should be easy to find something he'll love to chew on.
Here's to many more years together! And, because why not, here's my favourite picture of him taken on his first day home with us!
