Why?
As I was typing the previous blog post, I had Piper on my shoulder and, at one point, Zuri came over and went on the computer desk, hoping for me to scratch his head.
Given I was busy typing, I didn't give in to his request. Because if I considered scratching his head with one hand and typing just with one hand, a certain Lovebird wouldn't have any of it.
Turns out, Piper was going to act jealous anyways...and kept trying to get close to Zuri, and not in a friendly manner. I kept putting him back up high on my shoulder, but hey, he didn't want to even give me the opportunity to scratch Zuri's head without being in the way.
So eventually I made him go on one of the play stands. And because of his earlier jealous behaviour, I gave in and scratched Zuri's head. While Piper remained on the play stand, he did start chirping away...probably voicing his discontent.
While it may appear as it wasn't the smartest move to actually pay attention to Zuri, he was just sitting there, waiting. Wasn't doing anything else to get my attention and wasn't being pushy as Piper. I thought it would be good to reward Zuri's good behaviour.

Hi! (and an update of sorts)
Last week was a busy week, and I wanted little to do with the computer (although I had prepared several pictures to get posting more regularly again). One thing I have wanted to do for some time, but have been unable to do, was take the birds outside for the fresh air. Summer has properly "hit" and we have very hot and muggy days; I'm uncomfortable outside, I don't think the birds would fare much better honestly. Our backyard gets particularly hot...
Of course, given how hot it has been, it was the "perfect" time for our A/C unit to break down. I thought something was wrong yesterday while we had the birds out in the computer room - I kept finding it hot and the Boy kept responding that he had lowered the temperature setting. Finally, later in the evening, he decided to look at the thing..and noticed that it was indeed not producing any cold air.
This little breakdown made me happy that the birds were in a room that tends to be a little cooler - as the rest of the house was getting warmer and warmer, their room was still very comfortable. Sadly, this little incident meant that the birds spent most of today in their room in their cages (as we waited on someone to come look at the unit - we were fairly lucky that there was some available time for this today). The repair guy found the problem, which does involve a part to be replaced, but did have a temporary solution to get the unit going...I'm just hoping it keeps working until the new piece comes and repair is made!

Monthly weigh in - June 2015
A little late, but here is the June monthly weigh in post.
They were weighed more frequently in June than in May (a few times a week).
Last time, I said that Piper had lost a little weight, but he maintained a very consistent weight throughout the month of June. Everyone else seemed pretty normal as well.
Average weight (in grams) for June 2015:
Piper - 55g
Shade - 119g
Joey - 128g
Petey - 139g
Zuri - 127g
Pixel - 122g
Léa - 318g
Piper, Joey and Pixel's average weight for June was the same as May; Petey and Léa gained a gram, Shade gained two and Zuri lost one.
Updated table - average weights for each bird per year:
*For 2015, data from January to June is included.
