The clown

Some pictures of Joey looking adorable (albeit a little more blue than he ought to be, thanks Blogger). However, yesterday he wasn't going after adorable, he was going after being funny.

He let out his clownish ways full force, and I must say at times the things he laughed at (and this was not feeding off the Boy or I) were a little disturbing...but it was rather entertaining. And when the Boy and I laughed at things he had done, I think he was quite pleased with himself.

Finally managed to perch without looking like she'll fall off that small end piece.

179:365 - The "slippery one"

"Slippery one" is what the Boy calls Piper when he should be in his cage, gets out, and can't be caught.

I have a different application for it, and I find this morning was the perfect time to use it. I wanted a picture for 365, he would rather be on me. So every time I tried to put him somewhere else to perch while I tried to only get a few shots, he would fly back to me immediately. Somehow, I managed to get this picture, and I'm quite happy with it, as it's different from other Piper shots, with the sideways perching.

And, bonus, there's a out-of-focus cameo from Shade in the background.

Balancing act

Blurry, yes, but it amuses me. She kept turning around that end piece trying to find the perfect perching spot, but it was a little tight.

Instead of the "bed hair" look...

...the "bed feather" look???

The reach

178:365 - Ok?

She kept saying "Ok?" though the whole photo shoot, it was cute. She was also mumbling a lot about other things. Never tried to do anything else until pictures were done.

He was happy to be on the net.

Determined

Determined, yes, the more "polite" way of saying stubborn.

Some days, I wish she had the same attention span as Joey who moves from one thing to the next very quickly. But when she's fixated on something, there is no deterring her. What caught her attention this morning? The computer monitor on/off button. She will not leave it along. I've tried ignoring her, she keeps at it. I tried moving her to things that are more appropriate, she kept going back. Eventually, I got very tired of it and asked her to stop...which she will for a few minutes before going back and trying to chew it some more.

I've also never had a bird that was so keen that you NOT clean up her droppings if she's close by. She'll make very low and sweet noises while she tries to get your hand.

Sigh. Who needs a toddler when you have a three year old Cape parrot?

176:365 - Super neck

He probably could have extended it a little more if he wanted to.

OPC meeting - June 22, 2014

Last night I attended the local Parrot Club meeting. It featured a presentation from Perroquet Secours, a not for profit organization which helps find lost birds and reunite them with their families. There was also a small presentation about how to make collars for birds who over preen or pick their feathers and lots of socialization time with other parrots owners.

I brought my camera and took a few pictures. Let's start with pictures of the birds (none of these are mine).
