287:365 - Petey

I actually quite like this picture of him. The photo shoot was cut rather short since Zuri wasn't too pleased with Petey being on "his" atom. Normally, I would have taken Petey out alone for his photo, but just didn't do it on that day...

I do have quite a few of these 365 pictures to go through before being all caught up!

The additional Oliver's Garden loot

I mentioned yesterday that I had more than my Sidewalk Sale order in the box I received from Oliver's Garden; it turns out the Boy bought some skywalks for the birds that didn't have one (Petey, Zuri and Pixel) as well as a large platform perch for Léa.

I think I'll have some cage overhauling to do this week-end!

It's here!!!

5 (very heavy) boxes containing all parts of Léa's new Expandable Habitats cage!

I *did* open them to make sure the panels all arrived ok and everything was so shiny!

I'm quite happy we don't have a formal dining room set yet as it's where these boxes have taken up residence until we are ready to assemble, which will probably be this week-end as I'd like Léa to have a day to adjust to it before night time as I won't have space to keep her two cages side by side.

SWS 2012 - Second of two orders that arrived today!

The second box was from Oliver's Garden.

Because my computer has demonstrated that it's still not feeling all that well (and it doesn't like me processing too many pictures at once), I'll keep this post to the portion of the content of the box that was ordered by me; no, I wasn't one of the lucky winners of the draws Susan had among people who ordered during the Sidewalk Sale, but the Boy had decided to get something before the sale started and have it shipped with my order.

I mostly focused on toys that I knew were favorites.

I ordered 5 Medium Chunky Monkey toys - which are always a HUGE success, especially with Shade who can go through one in a matter of a day...

I also ordered 2 Chipping 101 toys - which were also proved to be well loved (and again, Shade is particularly fond of these).

The Rainbow Trout Jr. has also fans here, the Red bellies were particularly ruthless with this guy's predecessor!

One of the "new" toys I wanted to try was the Fish Stick - I wanted one the first time I saw it posted on the website so I figured now was as good a time as any to finally get it and have the birds try it out.

The last thing I ordered was an long highway. I'm not hanging it up quite yet, but it will eventually get hung up in the orange room, whenever we get around to finally putting hooks up.

Finally, Susan included a free foot toy, a cute little anchor!

SWS 2012 - First of two orders that arrived today!

I had two boxes waiting for me today when I arrived home - which is always a nice feeling.

And what is best, is that one had food, the other had toys and perches!

I was running low on Avian Organics mashes before the Sidewalk Sale started so I was happy to see that Doris had them on sale!

It was a relatively small order, but one that should keep me covered for a while.

What I got -

Mango Medley
Hemp Berry Pudding
Bolivian Blast
Pineapple Pudding
Mayan Gourmet Mash

Those are all favorites of my flock, I'm sure they'll be happy to get them more regularly once again!

(And lucky me, computer has been mostly behaving today, I might get to post about the second order later tonight!)

An update

Some might have noticed that I haven't posted as much lately. For one, I've been sick and not really up to it (or up to anything really, the Boy was a great help with dealing with the birds over the week-end) and two, we've been having computer issues (as it shutting off randomly and, most recently, not starting up again (I have moved everything I had to a separate and safer storage...))

I can't really deal with pictures off the iPad and I don't care about posting longer entries from it (just now it created some weird problem which I have little patience for) so until I get access to a fully up and running computer, it might be quiet.

Now, of course, since I mentioned these issues here, the computer will start working (nicely) again as this would contradict me and it seems that everything likes doing that lately but, for once, I won't mind...

Two very messy beaks!

Léa really loved her dinner!

And Piper really loved his almond!

The "classy" look -

The "clown" look -

286:365 - Messy & Itchy

Here she is scratching an itch with her stained foot - raspberries have been offered this week for breakfast and blackberries were part of the mixture of fresh food my mom brought along with Nemo and which gets offered at dinner time...Given how she pulverizes both these types of berries, I think her foot might stay messy for a while!

In flight Léa

285:365 - Puffball

I like how she's all puffed up.
The mantle is generally a place we don't want to go on, but I broke the rule so I could get a picture in a different setting. Mind you, she was keep to fly away and be behind the camera, I wonder if that will have any impact on her going on the mantle in the future.

Probably not.

Morning ramblings

I start work at 7:30 so I get up at 5:30 so the birds get some out of cage time.
Often though, especially as it gets progressively darker in the morning, I'm not fully awake - enough to intervene should there be a problem but not so much that I feel like interacting with them in a cheery way. Lucky for me, in the mornings I'm with the Littles and most of them aren't really morning birds and, like me, just start waking up by the time they go back in their cages.

Because of this, take the following like you want, but I swear I just heard Pixel say "what 'ya doing?" in her robotic Red belly voice. She might or might not have really uttered that, but it really really sounded like it.

284:365 - More coy Shade

I obviously ran out of ideas for titles this morning.

A Visitor

Nemo is here for the next little while!

For any new readers, Nemo belongs to my parents and is actually Shade's clutch brother.

It is his first time in our new house - he was a bit puzzled yesterday but I think he's getting adjusted to things quite well. As usual, he's quite happy around me while the Boy is a bit cautious around him.

In fact, when I showed the Boy the photo below, his first reaction was to ask if he was yelling (or probably about to bite in his head), when it was neither - Nemo was just yawning.

So he'll probably creep up on the blog during his stay here, although I'm finding it hard enough taking my daily pictures as it is...

283:365 - Not entirely in picture taking mood

He's been more cooperative than this in the past.
And this morning he's been rather annoying, screeching A LOT and given it's not even 6:30 yet..I have little patience for it.

He looks grumpy as well - guess we are feeling similar right now...
