149:365 - Ready to go
The Boy was at the door and all Petey wanted was his attention. I'm sure he eventually would have flown to him, but the Boy picked him up first.

148:365 - Twice in a row
She wrapped up last week and starts off this week.
And that feather that sticks out a little to the side - that is so her. Always one rebel feather, although never on the same side.
A first
I got a "first" with Joey yesterday. But I think I should give a little background before getting to it.
When we first got Joey, it was clear he preferred men, although he didn't hate women the way Petey does. He was just more comfortable with men, which is logical since his previous owner was a man and the women he knew from that place did not like him.
Anyways, over the years, I have won Joey over and he no longer shows preference for people along side gender lines. But because of how he was those first few months, and the bites he gave me, I'm still, to this day, reluctant to move him from place to place without using a perch. I also won't allow him on my shoulders (my ears remain intact that way) and generally limit the one-on-one he gets to scratching his head.
I do think that over the past year he's shown signs that make me believe that he would step up nicely onto my hand if I let him, but I'm not quite there yet (and going with a smidgen of hesitation on my part would not be good, as he would sense it). However, last night I dared to do something I always wanted to, but never thought he would allow - I gave him a kiss on his head. Actually, when I managed to give him one kiss and he just stood there and happily kept on preening, I gave him two more. And, again, he just stood there and kept preening. This is not something he would have allowed a year ago and it made me very happy.
I might just try asking him to step up onto my hand sooner rather than later.

Caught red footed?
He has this guilty look on his face, as if he was caught doing something he ought not be doing when really, what he was reaching for is perfectly fine to be chewed on!
Silly Joey!
I'm watching you
I just find the title befitting the picture, although there wasn't really any reason for anyone being watched.
And again, sunset + flash in orange room = very orange picture.
145:365 - On the move
Sunset in the orange room means totally oversaturated oranges, when it comes to pictures, although Blogger has once again decided to render the picture more blue than it ought to be.

142:365 - Petey
Looking a little wet, as he had just taken a bath. At least his stomach and underside got wet. Never the head!

141:365 - Where to next?
He was much more into playing and moving around than posing, so I'm quite happy I managed to get one nice shot!
Sleeping bird in hand
The colours on the following pictures might be a little off, as they were taken at sun down while in the orange room, therefore everything looked quite yellow/orange so I tried to fix the white balance a little. I couldn't resist posting these as Piper, as always, looks quite adorable!

Joey's facial expressions
He was playing with a foot toy and the "crazy eyes" made many appearances. I went a little crazy with the pictures and, trust me, there could be many others posted!
Happy
Wants the little piece of paper off...
Getting frustrated a little, eyes starting to focus on crazy.
Slightly crazy eyes and tongue action.
Noticed me looking at him.
CRAZY EYES!!!
Crazy but happy eyes.
Thinks he might have found a way to remove paper.
Maybe not...
And it's off! (now must deal with the knots)

Petey's "sacrificial alter"
Omnious sounding title, isn't it?
What am I referring to? Well, take a look below.
Over the last few weeks, he's apparently made a habit of eating his breakfast on his flagstone perch. This concept is not a new one in our home, as Zuri, Pixel and even Joey have shown this habit in the past. But it is a very new thing for Petey.
He actually didn't use to touch his breakfast much, only if he happened to be in the mood to eat any of the offered fruit at the time - you can't presume that he'll always like a fruit if you see him eat it one week, he could easily not touch it the following week. I've often viewed him as a picky eater.
However, rather suddenly, he's started to eat the offered fresh food more consistently, and is now doing so while standing on his flagstone perch. To quote the Boy "oh yeah, he now mashes his raspberry into his piece of toast".
I am not knocking him eating more diversified food, but I'm not sure we can call him the "cleanest" bird when it comes time to not making a mess throughout the cage anymore.

137:365 - Pixel
Yesterday's 365 picture. And Blogger is once again playing funny with my pictures and altering their colours, making them more blue and taking away some warmer tones.
