In light of upcoming vacations, we wanted a smaller easier to carry camera for moments where the DSLR would just be too chunky and heavy. Given I had wanted a Fujifilm X100 for some time, but could never justify the expense (and still couldn't), a compromise was made and we got the X20 instead.
I'm sure it'll come in handy, and I love that I can almost achieve a "bobble-head" look, since it'll allow me to focus while standing much closer to the birds than any of my lenses on my DSLR would. It'll make for fun parrot portraits!
